Nick LaVecchia is an Uncommon artist. Check out his Uncommon profile here. He routinely hops into freezing cold water in places where even fish dare to swim, to get the raddest, most unique surf shots possible with a lens and water housing.
Nick and some friends recently launched a website called Get In The Van. GITV has quickly earned a reputation for great images and video that are not only beautiful but help tell stories from all over the globe from the tiniest natural details to the largest monster waves.
The new GITV site is completely home-built on a shoe-string budget, while the GITV crew manages the content, community, look and feel of their new home on the Internets. The content is always fresh, always fun and always inspiring. So come back often to see what surfing with friends should be about.
You can Get In The Van here: http://www.getinthevan.com.

DIATRIBE: The lack of this kind of community experience is what retards snowboarding and that has allowed surfing to become classic, ageless and timeless. If you aren’t connected to the environment that enables the activity (the ocean, the mountain) and if you aren’t documenting the experience of how you get to and interact with that environment, and how you share that with your friends, then you are missing the point. Snowboarding can only spin-to-win for so long, and we are now at that threshold. Snowboarding needs some leadership that doesn’t seem to be present these days. Where is CK and what would he say? He wouldn’t say anything in fact. He would just go riding with his friends, knowing that he knows what it’s really about, and not really caring if the rest of us do or not. Decide for yourself how you want to go down. The end.
