Uncommon artists Pose and KC Ortiz opened shows this weekend at L.A.‘s Known Gallery. Stop by and check them out before the June 12th closing. We’ll have to settle for these behind-the-scenes shots for now.

It’s been a busy week already in the Uncommon Community! We welcomed five new artists to the site, so take a minute to say hello and check out their work.

If you happen to be in Itacare, Brazil this week (wish we were!) you might run into Billy the Artist, pictured above, at The Breathe Foundation’s world summit. He’ll be hosting seminars and workshops for kids and painting a skate bowl. “I’ve done numerous mural projects and workshops with kids around the world,” says Billy. “My favorite part is their spirit and energy.”
And in June, Billy makes his mark at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. He painted two Les Paul Gibson guitars that will be on display at the Cleveland museum and then auctioned off at a gala event. The collaboration seems appropriate as Billy’s New York East Village studio is across the street from the old Filmore East rock club where Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix played.
Grab your own piece of Billy’s “urban primitive pop” and support the Uncommon Community!

Nick LaVecchia is an Uncommon artist. Check out his Uncommon profile here. He routinely hops into freezing cold water in places where even fish dare to swim, to get the raddest, most unique surf shots possible with a lens and water housing.
Nick and some friends recently launched a website called Get In The Van. GITV has quickly earned a reputation for great images and video that are not only beautiful but help tell stories from all over the globe from the tiniest natural details to the largest monster waves.
The new GITV site is completely home-built on a shoe-string budget, while the GITV crew manages the content, community, look and feel of their new home on the Internets. The content is always fresh, always fun and always inspiring. So come back often to see what surfing with friends should be about.
